Join a Bush Action Team

Our Bush Action Teams (BATs) are a fantastic way to get outside in a range of bush locations across the state and access the vast resources and knowledge of our community.

Bushcare is about helping the bush heal itself. By gradually removing any environmental weeds using easy, minimal-disturbance methods, our bushcarers help native plants naturally regenerate. COVID-19 protocols apply to some of our activities. More information will be provided during the booking process.

What you need to be a bushcarer

To come to your first BAT you will need to be in general good health. There is no heavy work but there is bending and kneeling involved as well as walking on uneven ground. Our Coordinators teach you bushcare techniques and explain what we do to care for habitats. It is a fun, hands-on way to learn about the bush and connect with others.

Every week from February-December we offer several BAT activities on our sites. All activities are supervised by our highly skilled Regional Coordinators and you can volunteer as often as you like.

  • Activities run from 9-3:30pm on site
  • We offer transport to volunteers leaving from our head office in Brooklyn Park with pick-up points en route to site.
  • If you have your own transport, you are welcome to attend for half a day.
  • All equipment and safety gear provided

Bush Action Team days

Please note: The location of Summer Bush Action Team days is decided each week based on the weather forecast. If too hot, another suitable day during the week may be offered.
